ChatGPT Turbo Mode by MindlessIT  ·  Effective: February 2026  ·  Last updated: February 2026

The short version

Overview

ChatGPT Turbo Mode ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension developed by MindlessIT. Its sole purpose is to improve the rendering performance of long ChatGPT conversations by intelligently managing which messages are active in the browser's DOM at any given time.

This Privacy Policy describes what data the Extension accesses, what it stores, and what it never does. We have designed the Extension from the ground up to require no personal data to function.

What we collect

The Extension stores only your configuration preferences — the four settings available in the popup:

Stored (settings only)
  • Extension enabled / disabled state
  • Visible messages count (5–50)
  • Archive older messages preference
  • Quiet mode preference
Never collected
  • Chat content or messages
  • ChatGPT account information
  • Browsing history
  • Cookies or authentication tokens
  • Analytics or usage statistics
  • Crash reports or error logs
  • Any personally identifiable information

How your settings are stored

Settings are written to Chrome's built-in sync storage API. This means your preferences are encrypted and associated with your Google account — they sync across your signed-in Chrome browsers automatically. MindlessIT has no access to this storage. We cannot read, modify, or delete your settings. Only you can.

When you uninstall the Extension, Chrome removes all stored data automatically. Nothing persists after uninstallation.

Network activity

The Extension makes zero network requests. It does not connect to MindlessIT servers, third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or any external endpoints. The only domain it is permitted to access is chatgpt.com — and that access is limited to injecting the performance optimization code into the page, not to reading or transmitting your data.

Permissions explained

The Extension requests the minimum permissions necessary to function:

Permission Why it's needed What it does NOT allow
storage Save your four settings so they persist between sessions Read or write any other data
scripting Inject the DOM optimization code into ChatGPT pages Run code on any site other than chatgpt.com
activeTab Determine which tab is currently active for ChatGPT Access other open tabs or tab history

The Extension explicitly does not request permissions for tabs, history, cookies, identity, or network interception. You can verify this in chrome://extensions → Details → Permissions.

How the optimization works (and why it's private)

ChatGPT Turbo Mode works by moving older message elements out of the active DOM and into an in-memory document fragment. This is a browser-side operation — equivalent to cutting and pasting HTML nodes. The Extension never reads the text content of messages, never parses what you or ChatGPT has written, and never transmits anything.

The optimization is structural, not semantic. The Extension treats messages as opaque DOM nodes — it doesn't care what they say.

Your rights

Because we collect no personal data, most data-rights requests are satisfied by default. That said:

This policy is consistent with GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), and other applicable privacy frameworks. We do not sell, share, or monetize any user data — because we have none to sell.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy in a material way, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Extension after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you disagree with any change, you may uninstall the Extension at any time.
